WHAT PRODUCES AND WHAT IS THE ORIGAMITEK TECHNOLOGY?

Origamitek produces Geodesic Domes, baptized with the name of ATOM, having a patent of invention. It's livable sphere-shaped constructions are made of pentagons and hexagons surrounded by a structure of aluminum, in tension, which operates on the principle of the arch, which allows to distribute the forces in tension in a homogeneous way.

WHERE IS ORIGAMITEK LOCATED?

The production plant and its offices are located in the industrial area of Yumbo, near the city of Cali, Department of Valle del Cauca, in Colombia, within the complex of Parasoles Tropicales de Colombia, with an area of 10,000 m2 (107,639 sqft) of production plant, two hours from the port of Buenaventura, from where is exported to the whole world.

H.I. Polymer-Composite poli-expanded walls of high impact, AAA quality, with aluminum structure. Flaps of sealing in geo-membrane with dual lock system. Angles of anchorage in galvanized steel, floors in PVC coated with vinyl for heavy traffic, doors and windows in aluminum and nylon ties.

WHAT ARE THE MEASUREMENTS OF PACKAGING FOR TRANSPORTING DOMES?

Any reference or size of Dome is reduced to a packaging size of:

Width    : 3.93 ft  =  1.20 mt

Length  : 5.24 ft  =  1.60 mt

Height  : Height is variable, between 2.62 ft (0.80 mt) and 4.59 ft (1.40 mt), which depend on the reference of the dome.

Note: Any unarmed Dome fits in a pickup truck.

WHAT IS THE THERMAL BEHAVIOR OF THE DOMES?

Origamitek Domes have high insulation properties and low thermal conductivity. Walls made with Expanded polymers, has a transfer coefficient of less than 0.05 W/Km temperature transfer, which reduces the consumption of energy for heating and cooling in a 20%.

WHAT IS THE RESPONSE OF DOMES MATERIALS EXPOSED TO FIRE?

The Domes are built with materials of low combustibility G1 GOST 30244-94 (inflammable in SNIP 21/01/97), fast cooling technology that does not spread fire.

WHAT IS THE LEVEL OF IMPERMEABILITY OF THE DOMES?

Origamitek Geodesic Domes comes with flaps of sealing in geo-membrane and dual lock, 100% waterproof to be used in all types of climates.

WHAT IS THE RESISTANCE OF THE DOMES AGAINST THE WINDS?

Origamitek Geodesic Domes resist the wind speed of up to 130 kilometers per hour, according to the NSR-10 Engineering standard, with structural calculations performed by prestigious Engineers. The characterization of materials was done in the laboratory of Engineering of the University of EL VALLE in Cali - Colombia.

WHAT IS THE RESPONSE OF DOMES IN AN EARTHQUAKE?

The Origamitek Domes are ultralight weight structures of great resistance, solidly anchored to the ground, with an optimal geometry based on hexagons and pentagons, joint with nylon ties and a flexible geo-membrane that absorbs the movements. Origamitek Domes are optimal seismic structures that comply with the Engineering standard NSR-10. Under normal conditions, can withstand, without any problem, earthquakes of up to 10 degrees in the Richter scale.

WHAT IS THE ANTI-THEFT SECURITY LEVEL OF THE DOMES?

The material of Domes walls is a polymeric composite poly-expanded category AAA, for high impact, bordered in aluminum, which can be internally sealed with profiles that are riveted, forming a monolithic structure, which provides a very good level of anti-theft security. Installing domes in spaces with surveillance is recommended anyway.

HOW TO FIX OR ANCHOR DOMES TO THE FLOOR OR GROUND?

Origamitek Domes can be anchored on pristine open-field land or concrete slabs. If done on a concrete slab, anchor system brings holes for fixation with expansion chaz's; for anchoring on virgin land van bolted steel plates must adapt to profile for buried Steel Nails, 50cm (1.64 ft) long to 45 degrees.

HOW ARE THE FLOORS OF DOMES?

There are different options for the technology floor, according to the need:

- Concrete slab

- Geomembrane with edge loops

- Boards of H.I. Polymer - Composite with surface on vinyl for heavy traffic and leveling pins.

- Technical floor with leveling jacks

DO DOMES ALLOW PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS?

Origamitek Domes can include all the plumbing and electrical installations, as breakers of distribution, electrical outlets, switches, etc. All electrical components comply with NEC RETIE regulations and are compatible with portable power generators (Class L connector). It is equally suitable for air conditioning units (HVAC units).

HOW DO DOMES RESPOND AGAINST THE SALT SEAWATER?

Origamitek Domes materials do not corrode or oxidize, so they can be installed in front of the sea.

HOW ARE THE ORIGAMITEK DOMES ASSEMBLED?

Origamitek Domes are assembled by layers, starting from below upwards. Helmets of the Domes are attached with nylon ties and sealed on the outside with flaps in geomembrane. The domes can be assembled in 2 to 4 hours, with the help of three people. Requires no special tools or special equipment, its components are ultra-light weight and easy to handle.

HOW DO YOU DISARM DOMES?

Domes disarm by layers starting from the top down. Just cut nylon ties and unhook seal flaps. Technology can be disassembled in a few hours, with the help of three people. No special tools are required and its components are ultra-light weight and easy to handle.

WHAT TOOLS ARE REQUIRED FOR ASSEMBLY AND DISASSEMBLY OF THE DOMES?

Ladder, cutter, screwdriver, hammer and pliers.

Domes of more than 50 m2 (538 sqft) requires two bodies of scaffolding.

WHICH COLORS ARE DOMES AVAILABLE IN?

Origamitek Domes can be produced in all the range of Pantone colors. In the same way can be printed in camouflaged, type jungle or desert, for the army, harmonizing with nature. If the customer wants it, they can also be painted inside.

Additionally in helmets of the Domes can be printed logos and any photographic image in high resolution.

DO DOMES CAN BE INTERCONNECTED?

The technology of the Domes allows modular growing, to the extent that is required. They can expand according to your needs and interconnected Domes of various sizes.

HOW SHOULD THE GROUND BE PREPARED TO INSTALL A DOME?

The basic requirement is that the ground is level.

Domes of can be installed on a concrete slab or on Virgin ground, according to the need of the project.

WHAT SIZE ARE THE SMALLER ORIGAMITEK DOMES?

Origamitek has designed a Dome especially for chain stores, with an area of 12.5 m2 (134.54 sqft), ideal for a bedroom with one bath, a bedroom for a couple, a living TV, an office, a game room, etc. Its packaging is just 1mt x 1mt x 1mt (one cubic meter) equal to 3.28ft x 3.28ft x 3.28ft, and weight: 100 kilograms (220 pounds) distributed in 2 packs of 50 kilograms (110 pounds)  for easy handling and transport.

HOW DOES THE VENTILATION OF DOMES WORK?

The Domes have a ventilation system at the top, which you can open and close, creating a chimney effect that extracts the hot air and keeps the interior fresh and airy. Additionally the domes can have solar extractors on the cusp to ensure air circulation, bringing freshness even in extremely hot climates.

ORDERS AND DELIVERY TIME

DOES ORIGAMITEK OFFER ANY DISCOUNT FOR LARGE ORDERS?

Yes, although the prices per square meter are well defined, the price is negotiable when it comes to requests for significant number of Domes..

WHAT IS THE FORM OF PAYMENT OF THE DOMES?

Origamitek offers two payment options:

- By an irrevocable bank letter of credit

- Payment of a 50% as a deposit advance to start production and 50% before delivery.

WHAT IS THE DELIVERY TIME OF AN ORDER?

In general terms, the delivery time is between 60 and 90 days.

However the delivery time may vary depending on the volume of orders in production.

HOW MUCH ARE THE COSTS OF TRANSPORT TO THE DIFFERENT COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD?

Origamitek technology was designed to occupy a minimal space, which means low cost of transportation, estimated at 1.5 dollars per square foot (sq-ft), equivalent to 16 dollars per square meter (m2) to any destination port in the world.

WHAT IS THE PRODUCTION CAPACITY OF ORIGAMITEK?

Origamitek products are manufactured in the production plant of Parasoles Tropicales de Colombia, which has an installed capacity of 10,000 m2, (107,639  sqft) allowing a capacity of industrialized production of up to 1,000 monthly Domes.

DO ORIGAMITEK DOMES ARE OFFERED WITH SOLAR ENERGY EQUIPMENT?

Yes, Origamitek offers a wide range of solar energy equipment that complements the technology, making it sustainable and self-sufficient.

MAINTENANCE, REPAIRS AND SUPPLIES

DO ORIGAMITEK DOMES REQUIRE MAINTENANCE? WITH WHAT FREQUENCY?

In general terms the Domes require little maintenance. Basically it is recommended to clean with water, dust and dirt accumulated on the outer surface of the Dome to prevent stains on the paint.

Every five years we recommend to paint outside the dome to protect it from the Sun's rays and lengthen its useful life.

IN THE EVENT THAT ANY OF THE COMPONENTS OF THE DOMES IS DAMAGED, CAN IT BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED?

If it's a small damage, yes, it can be repaired with high adhesion epoxy glue and 3M sealing tape for outdoor use.

If it's a serious injury, it must be ordered a new part replacement to Origamitek. You have to give the reference of the Dome and date of acquisition to Origamitek to identify with accuracy the piece to be replaced.

WHAT IS THE DURATION OF THE DOMES?

With proper maintenance and good care of the components, the duration must be greater than 20 years.

HOW MANY TIMES CAN ASSEMBLE AND DISASSEMBLE THE DOMES?

With a good management of the components, about 300 times.

DO ORIGAMITEK OFFERS CUSTOM DESIGNS?

Yes, Origamitek has a design department that is dedicated to developing projects for its customers.

The design has no cost, but a small advance payment is required which is then 100% deducted  from the Bill of sale.

WHAT FLOOR PLANS DELIVER ORIGAMITEK?

Depending on the project, architectural, electrical, hydraulic, and sanitary food plans are delivered.

WHAT TYPE OF PROJECTS DOES ORIGAMITEK DESIGNS ?

STUDY OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROPERTIES OF ORIGAMITEK TECHNOLOGY?

The philosophy of Earth sheltered construction is based on three fundamental principles: energy saving, energy recovery and drawing energy from the environment, by exploiting, among other things, the building’s thermal mass. Thermal Mass is different than heat transfer resistance. R-Value is heat transfer resistance only. Typical R-value for earth is 0.25 per inch; however, the thermal character of the soil mass is quite different than that of material designed and used primarily for heat transfer resistance (R-value) like polystyrene or polyurethane foam. When changing from soil to a less massive "insulating" material, you should understand the design performance with regards to heat capacity of the building and/or soil mass (K-value). A massive soil wall or roof can store heat energy to even out the temperature swings of day--lightweight insulation does not perform this way. The thermal value you get from 18 inches of soil far surpasses the 4.5 R-value (0.25 per inch). The use of earth as a large capacity heat storage makes it possible not only to reduce such buildings’ demand for heating and cooling energy, but also helps to preserve the local microclimate.
